School’s Role

 

  • Conducting awareness workshops in schools and with parents to sensitize them about the need to cater to students having LD.
  • The crucial aspect of the programme is to identify the difficulty at the earliest and for this reason it is imperative for the Primary teachers to understand this need.
  • Teachers customize the classroom setup to help the process of instruction to be effective. The curriculum is also studied and customized to the learning needs of the students.
  • Instructions are kept simple and students are allowed to take their time in understanding the concept better.
  • Availing of all concessions offered by the CBSE and facilitating the processes for the same.
  • Evaluations of the papers are also done keeping in mind the difficulty of the students in reading and writing.
  • Amanuensis (writers) and readers for the exams are offered to the students who have reading and writing problems.
  • Ensuring that each student completes the paper and attempts the questions asked by facilitating the process for him/her.
  • The difficulty level of each student is assessed and instruction material is prepared accordingly.
  • Exemption to students having LD from a third language till class 8 and second language too in class 9 and 10 and offering them easier and practical based subjects that keeps their academic interest alive.
  • Teachers avoid labeling a student in any way. They work upon building the self confidence and  restoring self esteem of the child
